Privacy

We will never sell your information, data, or anything else you share with us – ever.

Phalanx provides automated file encryption and encrypted file sharing for data protection, privacy, and secure communication. Phalanx is not in the business of selling advertising or marketing information about our users. Phalanx will never sell information about you to anyone.

The information that Phalanx sees is listed below.

Email Address
We will acknowledge that your email address (with associated name) is a member of the Phalanx system in order to make it easier for Phalanx members to find each other. If you find that someone is abusing this capability, please let us know.

Encrypted Data
Phalanx uses encryption to protect your information. Because Phalanx never persistently stores your data (documents, files, or emails) and secures your keys, Phalanx will not decrypt or otherwise read the content of your information.

Using Phalanx’s organizational management portal, organizations and individuals can provide selected groups of individuals – most often IT administrators – with the ability to retrieve chosen sets of keys upon request of the user or the data’s associated approval group. This mechanism is most often used for user account recovery and data export to comply with the legal discovery process. Phalanx ensures that the owner of any data item will have full visibility and control as to how these retrieval mechanisms are configured for the data they own (meaning that if an IT administrator’s approval group can reconstitute a user’s key for recovery purposes, that user will be able to view that the group is capable of doing so).

Metadata
In order to understand how the Phalanx platform is used and to provide a better service experience, Phalanx counts and aggregates all user endpoint information pertaining to system and file data on the system. This file metadata will be collected for all files across the system the user has access to.

Examples of metadata include the number of files encrypted/decrypted per day, the amount of file transfers used per individual, the number of devices used per user, device name, file metadata, and file counts. This metadata will be used strictly to improve the system performance or provide data reports and will never be sold to any third party. In no way does this metadata enable Phalanx to decrypt or read the contents of the underlying data.

Third-Party Data
Phalanx communicates and leverages third-party data to effectively integrate with other ecosystems. We interact with the minimum required data and protect it in the same way as data that is native to Phalanx. The following describes what third-party data is accessed and how it is used across the Phalanx platforms.

Google Drive API: We request Google Drive metadata (filetype, permissions) so we’re able to effectively perform our encryption and decryption actions. We never access the contents of the files nor do we ever store the contents of the file on our servers or databases. Only filename and an ID is retained for audit logging. We also use the Google User's email to associate the Google Account with their Phalanx account. The Google User's profile picture is also temporarily viewed for permission quick glances, but we do not retain nor store the data.

Cookies
Phalanx uses cookies to enhance your experience on our platform by enabling certain functionalities and helping us understand how the service is used. Cookies are small data files stored on your device, which may be used for essential functions such as maintaining session security. For more detailed information on how we use cookies, please refer to our Cookies Policy.

It is strongly recommended to check this page often, referring to the date of the last modification listed at the top.
